I quite like this one. It is beautiful and the instrumentation flows smoothly. Consider this piece 'enjoyed'!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I'm glad you DID enjoy it XD
Thanks for checking out some of my stuff and leaving comments :3

Nice. What is the beautiful piano?

The ending was rather awkward.

Pretty cool! I would love to hear a live performance of this.

It did start feeling repetitive to me eventually. But that is how I also feel about a lot of famous classical music. :D

I hear the sounds of a maaaagical land. There are ice flakes on my eyebrows.

SoundChris responds:

Thanks man! You are too kind :D

It sounds pretty good. It sounds like a thousand other tracks I've heard, there's not much of a characteristic melody to it, but it does sound very good.

Cerzak responds:

Yeah, the song itself does sound structured, but technique used was a bit common. Thanks though!

This is too harsh sounding for my taste, but I can still appreciate it. The piece feels pretty much the same all throughout, and so, even though it is almost five minutes long, it feels like I am listening to a ~10 second track on repeat. It might help to have more variety in the beat and more transition sections.

To answer your question: Variety, variety, variety! And a bit of creativity. And simply being different doesn't always make a section /feel/ different. Think about the sort of progression you want a track to have. Do you want it to get more intense? Do you want a "calm" section? I tend to /overemphasize/ progression dynamics, but I think your track /underemphasizes/ it. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to throw in a bit of your own composition to fill it out ze.

Anyhow, this is how I turn a ~30 second Sonic loop into a full song: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/567030

MeisterMach5 responds:

Thanks for the advice, Krichotomy! I'll keep that in mind the next time I try and attack a short piece like this one. For now, I'll just get back to my usual forte, which is rearranging 3 minute songs XD

Dat progression. :O Am I in HEVAN?

The slow build in intensity was so smooth that I didn't even think about it- I only felt it. The "faking out" at 04:10-04:23 surprised and delighted me. Then the ending perfectly brought the piece full circle and left me in a haphazard emotional heap on the floor.

johnfn responds:

Hey, I'm glad that the slow buildup worked for someone :D And made them an emotional heap... that was pretty much my goal, really. hehe

Lovely. So lovely.

SilverPoyozo responds:

Thank you Krichotomy, I did the best I could.

I'm gonna be that dude that posts a relatively negative review. :)

The track is cool, but it feels too aimless/random to me. I think it feels somewhat motionless because of the lack of clear progression. I also started getting tired of that cello spiccato. (I love the hammered string parts, btw.)

The mixing sounds strange to me. Perhaps the EQ?

LunyAlex responds:

Those least impressed usually do the best job of outlining what could have been better.
So thank you for the review! I'll definitely take note of what you've pointed out.

Excellent track. The string dynamics are great. The plucked guitar sounds too loud to me, with perhaps too much bass.

I am 26 years old and I have "midlife crises" all the time. "Who am I? What is my purpose? Can I even do this?" It is difficult. Sometimes it is a source for depression, but sometimes it is actually a good source of inspiration.

XayberOptix responds:

Thank you for being able to relate. There are times in our lives where we all need some sort of inspiration to carry on in life. I really enjoy reading your reviews as they consist of useful and encouraging thoughts. Your kindness and support is very meaningful to me.
