Solid approval.

Thanks

This /is/ awesome! It sounds like the beginning of a movie, where the camera is familiarizing us with the setting visually, before the main characters actually make their appearance.

Nice ambient atmosphere. Yay LMMS!

The piano work is beautiful! The woodwind is hard to distinguish. You did well with what violin instrument you have, but it'd be great to find a violinist to put some sweet real strings in there.

As a short loop with no build, I feel like this is not a story but rather a frozen moment in a story. As such, it's really nice. But why is it four minutes and sixteen seconds long? Why not just set one instance of the loop to looping?

The melody has great potential for a longer, more story-like piece. If you just want something light and simple as a background that doesn't take too much attention to itself, then this is good as is. But if you want the music to stand well alone and dig into somebodies heart, then follow TroisNyxEtienne's advice.

Awesome. If you could make the flute more fluid and natural I would call it super awesome.

conorstrejcek responds:

Thanks!
Honestly, I'm kind of pushing the limitations of the samples I'm using, so the flutes probably won't sound more natural until I can get a better sample library haha.

Very well executed sir. But I don't see what's so "Blazing" or "Dragon" about it. Oh, wait, that's your username!

How appropriate, since I'm saying goodbye to lots of people now. It's actually kinda painful to listen to this because I feel like through the music I'm seeing them though an infinitely wide pane of glass. I can see them, but only in shades of grey, and I can't hear them. They can't see or hear me. On their side the sky is bright and sunny and everybody is laughing and enjoying each other, on my side is just stillness and emptiness. But I smile as I see them and remember when I was right there with them, and as I turn around to face what life now holds for me I see a farmhouse that I've never seen before. And I think there are people there that I will meet, that will be my new friends, my family.

BlazingDragon responds:

Ahahaha, no, definitely not a blazing piece!

Your analogy is beautiful when read with the music, and it perfectly captures the bittersweet aspect of life that I tried to evoke. On one hand, you go through life and have to shoulder the burden of letting certain people go. On the other, a whole world of opportunity is ahead, and the prospect of that can be exhilarating.

To me, life is beautiful largely because of the contrast between joy and sadness. I would much rather have a life of incredible victories and crushing defeats than one of unremarkable, comfortable mediocrity. Hopefully, that idea comes through in the music I write.

Thank you for your review, Krichotomy. I also recall you leaving a notable review for Children's Overture, and I appreciate your remarks.

How very soothing. Like a good cup of herbal tea. 02:53 to the end is very beautiful!

I also think the drums are fine.

Nice! This reminds me of the dungeons in the swamp realm of Fate: Undiscovered Realms or Fate: The Traitor Soul. I don't think of this as a "Hero Theme", more like a "The City is in Trouble" theme.

conorstrejcek responds:

I'm glad you liked it!

It's supposed to be a more "undeveloped hero" theme (with a troubled past), but I can see where you'd get the "City is in Trouble."

Thank's for the review!

Half-baked coder, musician, and writer. Chronically ill. Possibly a vampire. I want chocolate.
