harp harp harp harp i love your harp playing and beautiful singing :)

Troisnyx responds:

harp harp harp harp XD

I'm glad you enjoy it so. Perhaps, with a bit of practice, I may be able to do full songs on it -- I trust you'll look forward to it.

The drums are loud, but I think appropriately so. There are many tracks on Newgrounds that have drums that give me headaches. But I'm playing this track on my studio headphones and my head feels fine. The drums do have a strong punch, but they have a soft tone structure. They make my heart race, but they don't make my head hurt.

Nonetheless, I probably would prefer the drums to be a little quieter (pre-compression) to bring them a little closer to all the other instruments in the visual space in my mind.

Nice work man!

Dylnmatrix responds:

Thanks man! Drums definitely aren't our strongest suit yet, but I'm glad they weren't too loud on your end. I think what may have happened is we mastered prioritizing studio headphones, monitors and car systems, but slipped up on regular headphones. But due to not having anything different from those setups atm, it was hard to reference to be able to do so.

But yeah, maybe the drums could have been a little more balanced with the rest of the track, which is why we've done so in the Entropy VIP we're finishing up now.

Nice singing! The vocals sound kind of metallic, though.

There's a fair amount of distortion/artifacts, maybe from the loud beat and associated ducking or compression. I'm not sure if that is intentional, but, to me, it adds a "falling apart" feeling to the mood.

I can't stand the growling screaming singing style, so I can certainly appreciate your version. :)

Enzer0 responds:

The vocals are intentionally sparky, it's almost a robot quality - little grainy, but thats how i like it.
Thanks for taking the time to review! Glad you enjoyed.

The background "swooshing" effect that starts at 01:08 sounds too sharp and prominent to me, and the panning on it seems to be "glitching". It sort of ruins the very mellow melody line, instead of complimenting it. Otherwise, this is an interesting and lively piece. I like the overall structure.

MeisterMach5 responds:

Thank you, Krich. I worked hard on this one and I'm pretty satisfied with the end result. I'm getting more experienced with FL Studio but minor things like clipping or panning errors will slip by without my noticing. I think next time I'll get 5 Stars from you!

Nice work, K! This is a very fine, well produced piece. The melody is nice, the repeating note pattern is great. But I like the progression most of all. The slow build gets me right in the feels, and the dieoff progression doesn't bore me despite how long it is... it feels like a continuing, dynamic story, even after the climax.

I feel like the drum transition is overused during the second half of the piece, but it sounds great so I don't mind. :P

The melody line that starts at 03:05 sounds more up-front and dry than any of the other melodic instruments in the piece. That feels a little off to me.

LMMS-chan is proud of you, and I am too.

K-Pone responds:

Yeah, maybe I used the drum fill in a bit too much in the second half. Anyway, I did as a composer should do: You have to be satisfied with your own work, then it's great. Not everbody will feel the same about it, but you should like what you've done, and I do. I like you do too. Thanks for the review.

I've had this looping for an hour now. It's very soothing.

ForgottenDawn responds:

Thank you, that's the beauty of loops :)

Ho... that's rather neat. The flowers on my shelf are wilting, though. I hope your game development goes well. What development tools will you be using? What platforms are you developing for? Will it be released on Newgrounds? What is the meaning of life?

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Hi, and thanks! I'm terribly sorry about your flowers D:
I hope the development goes well too.
As I can't code, I'll be using Stencyl.
If I get it made in time (before my Stencyl subscription ends), it will be developed in flash format, as well as for Windows Desktop (just for fun, not for commercial reasons).
It will certainly be released on Newgrounds. If I think the game is good enough once finished, I'll try to get it sponsored and uploaded to lots of other sites too. Time will tell.

As for the meaning of life, I wrote a 2857 words and 15658 characters long blog post about it here: http://lucidshadowdreamer.blogspot.fi/2013/11/the-meaning-of-life.html

(Your fault for asking about it >:D)

I'm floating somewhere in the aether. I am content to remain this way forever.

ForgottenDawn responds:

:) Lovely.

I love the first two minutes. The rest of it is almost unpleasant to me.

Fubaka responds:

The full version of the song is in 'Our Legacy'. Perhaps you will feel differently once you've heard everything in context.

Wow, this gets really unsettling. Drowning in sugar is more terrifying than I thought. I'm intrigued by how mellow the music is while being unsettling. It makes me think of an uncaring person just watching somebody else suffer.

I also turned my volume way up at the beginning because of the prolonged low volume.

This piece makes me want to invite you to listen to my track "Fleeting Forest Lights" if you haven't already.

Fubaka responds:

An interesting take on this song, to be sure.

Also, I did have a look at your track, and I thought it matched the art quite well. Still, I probably wouldn't have done it that way, but that is just how my musical tastes go.

Half-baked coder, musician, and writer. Chronically ill. Possibly a vampire. I want chocolate.
