Those sweet layers of sounds knitted together, imparting a strong sense of urgency.

BenTibbetts responds:

Thank you. :)

You really did great work here. What are your plans for your musical future? Do you wish to score animations?

Now do the scene where the purple pony fights the bull-thingy! :P

ErikMcClure responds:

I have ideas for the fight scene but that's asking a lot of me.

Man, I feel the climax, I feel the feels. Wonderful progression.

Also, I disagree with almost all of SkyeWintrest's complaints. :D The kick drum does have an awkward-sounding cutoff though, IMO, when it is standing "all alone" like it is in the first half of the song. It seems to work better around 03:40.

johnfn responds:

Haha. Hey thanks for the review! I dunno how I forgot to respond to this.

Nice, peaceful, relaxing. This makes me want to lay on a grass-covered hillside and fall asleep in the warm golden sun.

SourJovis responds:

Sounds like a plan :)

:D :D :D

The sections of this song are very different, but they are consistent enough that I feel like I went on a journey to three different places (instead of feeling like I went on three unrelated journeys). Cool!

johnfn responds:

Thank you! Yeah umm I guess the abrupt transitions didn't work for some people, but I'm glad it worked for you :D

Wonderful. The song sounds very blue, but with a positive hopeful message. This song feels very personally significant to me.

The composition is awesome. The whole progression of the song is varied and interesting. If I must complain I'll mention that your voice often disappears under the rest of the music, making it impossible to understand what you are saying.

steelside responds:

I'm glad you liked it man.
I wrote this song for a number of reasons, and I'm happy you picked up on how personal it was for me.

I hope other people can find their own stories in my music. That's why I share it.

Dark mind over dark matter.

Nice work. A little too repetitive, I think. I hear the variance in the repetitive foreground but I think it the variance is not quite obvious enough. Or something like that...

NoHost responds:

Sure thing, Kris.

The background strings sound... fuzzy? Like they are coming from an old radio. That's fine, that's probably intended, but it sounds so different than everything else, like it is coming from inside my head instead of being out with all the other instruments. Perhaps some reverb and EQing down the higher frequencies could send them more to the background? I'm not sure.

OH MY SWEET BARLEY TEA, that harp work is beautiful! And the flute line worked wonderfully as a background to the harp. And I think the beautiful hopeful harp/flute part contrasts nicely with the dissonant despair, but the transition back to dissonance felt kinda weak and weird. I think some clear chords might have worked well to lead back into the dissonance, instead of just blending dissonance with harp playing. I like the first transition- the transition into the harp/flute part.

The ending is cool and works well to loop, IMO.

Good gravy, that harp (and flute). Please. More.

Calamaistr responds:

Those harp and flute are of a very high quality pack of new instrumentations, the reason i still use lower q synths aswell is for the sake of consistency with the rest of the album, the continued dissonances after the harp and flute are story driven as is everything in these tracks. :)

thanks.

I love the instrumentals from 00:41 to 01:28. But it seems out of place in the middle of the emptiness of the rest of this track.

The cheap sounding choir stands in stark contrast to the beautiful instrumentals. I think it could be much improved by making not every choir note start with a "swell", if they could be more connected and fluid. Also, some additional layer to make everything feel more continuous might be nice...

I hear lots of potential!

I initially typed "quire" instead of "choir". :/

Grandvision responds:

I want to edit this track a lot, it lacks in progression and a main melody that develops. It's all over the place, but you learn with every composition, and I think for not having been composing for over 6 months I think this is a good start.

Half-baked coder, musician, and writer. Chronically ill. Possibly a vampire. I want chocolate.
