:D I like it. A fun scene, nice colors, nice visual arrangement.

I write down my dreams every day. Even when I'm too sick to do anything, I still write down my dreams. :P

I've written music from my dreams, but I don't recall ever drawing a scene from a dream.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks for leaving three reviews in quick succession like that! I truly appreciate that :3
I've picked up writing down my dreams again too, since I got myself a new dream journal :)
I hope you'll get better, on a whole.
This isn't really an exact scene from a dream of mine, though I've seen winter landscapes from time to time ;)

Hmm, butterflies bursting out of his chest... I don't really get it. But I guess dreams don't make sense most of the time anyway, grin.

Each individual element of the image is drawn with skill, but I don't really like the overall color composition. I think changing the background to greyscale or solid white would vastly improve the image to my appeal. But that may not be a common opinion.

I try to lucid dream. I've only had three brief lucid experiences, iirc. One caused by sleeping while listening to music through earbuds, one WBTB, and one r/c DILD. (Over the span of the past 13 months.)

MaxRH responds:

Aye, dunno whats been up with me lately. Havent been able to come up with any decent ideas. I've been lucid dreaming for about 4 years now. Its one of my favourite things to do.

My first 2015 submission was also art. ^^

The lines look like they were drawn with a mouse instead of a stylus. If you only have a mouse to draw with, I would suggest you turn on stroke smoothing to get smoother, more natural-looking curves. If you want to, you could also trace over a reference treble clef design on a separate layer.

I'll also complain that the color combination is very discomforting to me. Fortunately, if your program supports it, you can draw on different layers, then easily adjust the color of each layer until you find something you really like.

I don't know what features Paint.NET supports, but GIMP does everything I want it to do, and it's also free. I had a better experience with stroke smoothing in Photoshop, but it's too expensive.

Props for making your own logo, and I hope to see you work on it more! ^^

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Heh, yeah. I saw your Grinch when you posted it, and I really like it :)

It's great that it looks like the lines were drawn with a mouse, as that's actually an upgrade, considering I made this whole thing useing a mouse pad ;)
Not all lines were drawn either, as some were created using alternative methods...
Thanks for all the adcvice!
Paint.net probably has the features you mentioned, and I did use different layers. I like discomforting though, so the blend of colors is just the way I want it XD (I actually did do some color adjusting to achieve my results).
I know that GIMP is free, and for that, it's a great tool. My sister uses it quite a lot :3

Thanks for the review, and I'll probably upgrade my logo, perhaps once a year or so?

Dunno what my emotional response is supposed to be, but this is a great work of art.

Cyberdevil responds:

Well I don't know who this is aimed at so... no emotional response necessary. :) Thanks!

Hah, what a neat way to add an 'emboss' effect to your drawing. I really like that patter, btw. I mean, I like it a LOT.

Cyberdevil responds:

A groovy way to make a grove! Thanks. :)

yes i see many blanks... where teeth used to be

Cyberdevil responds:

Hah, yeah those could use some filling too. :P Appreciate all these comments btw!

That face. XD

That's obviously a trace-over of my Grinch artwork: http://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/krichotomy/derpy-grinch

:P

Cyberdevil responds:

Hmm, that green... does look similar! :P

I think he is saying "HELP MY MOUTH IS MELTINGGGBLLRGGH".

Regardless of how well you did or did not achieve your desired effect, I find the color scheme and composition to be very pleasant.

Cyberdevil responds:

Looks like you can read the minds of mountains! :O Thanks!

The snowball effect? XD

Interesting and neat image. I like the simple shading.

Cyberdevil responds:

Haha, a new interpretation of it! :P Thanks!

He's a mean one, Mr. Grinch.

Nice work. I like his matted fur. :)

I think the overall shading looks flat, because every object has the same range of lightness to darkness, the same shading effect applied.

Check out my Grinch vector, if you feel so inclined: http://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/krichotomy/derpy-grinch

MaxRH responds:

Yeah for some reason with this one I really just didnt feel that passionate and didn't do as well as I think I could have. The last couple of months have been pretty crappy in terms of productivity and creativity.
Also, nice job. I like it :)

Half-baked coder, musician, and writer. Chronically ill. Possibly a vampire. I want chocolate.
